This is a general process and covers all four of our design services. Certain sections of this process pertain specifically to our remodeling services and may not apply if you elect to only employ a different service such as interior decorating. Your process will be relevant to the specific phase of your project.
How to get your project started with Design & Décor:
1. You may contact us via phone (619-781-1181) or by using our Website's
Automated Contact Form. We encourage you to describe your project in detail. If you are able, we will ask that you provide us (via fax:619-424-9997 or email:
DesignTeam@design-n-decor.com) with any room dimensions and/or photos of the existing space(s) so that we may begin evaluating your needs.
2. A Design Team Consultant will contact you and discuss the particulars of your proposed project. This is a real brainstorming session during which we get acquainted, further discuss details of your project, review your ideas, and give you our design first impressions. This is also the step where we figure out what services will best fit your project. Our Designers will use this information to draw preliminary plans showing a bird’s eye view of the
floor plan and
perspective drawings that represent how your walls and cabinetry will look.

We will help you prioritize what is important to best utilize your new space. We will also schedule a convenient in-person appointment. Depending upon which phase your project is in, we can also schedule the creatation of one or more model homes, using suggested furnishings, window dressings, decorative items, color swatches, and images of proposed styling motifs.
3. A Design Team Consultant will come to the job site to evaluate the existing space, show you the preliminary design plans, and discuss the merits of proposed ideas with regard to your project. At this meeting we will obtain exact measurements and take digital photos. We will also review the planning, design and building process to ensure your project's success. This is the time to discuss scheduling needs during the construction phase. Additionally, we will discuss your overall budget for the projects so that we can design within your monetary expectations. A good-faith cost proposal will be presented and we can sign a construction or other appropriate service agreement.
4. Depending upon the specifics of your project, a Design Consultant will begin developing a comprehensive plan. This is a detailed description of the work, broken down by each step of the construction and/or decorating process. From framing, plumbing and electrical, to drywall, paint and finishes, to furniture and decorative items, you will be guided through every step of the project. During this process, your Design Consultant will suggest colors, textures and materials that best represent current market trends. Colored renderings may also be used to help you more easily visualize your project.
5. We will supply you with a design master breakdown sheet and binder complete with a list of all appliances, flooring materials, plumbing fixtures, lighting, furniture or other supplies needed to complete your project.

With a comprehensive Design Plan and scope of work completed, we will meet to review these plans, and make sure all of your choices are agreed upon. This scope of work will clearly describe what is and is not included in the project. We do this to ensure that as we move through the remodeling and/or decorating process, the project will meet your expectations as well as meet codes of compliance. When you are satisfied with your design, your Design Consultant will hand over the project to the Design Coordinator. Your Design Coordinator works closely with the Design Consultant and your Project Manager to ensure all aspects of the design are completed as originally anticipated.
6. Your Design Coordinator will then review the entire job, walk through the project with you at the jobsite and discuss any additional questions you have. We will also discuss your project’s proposed time frame. If necessary, we will schedule professional, licensed tradesmen, and order the materials necessary to complete your job.

7. As your project progresses, your Design Coordinator may accompany you to shop for flooring, counters, and other design and decorative components. You can also choose to have your Design Coordinator make those selections for you and let you approve all purchases thus saving you valuable time, money and energy.
8. Prior to completion of your project, your Design Coordinator will walk the jobsite with you and note any details that require attention.
9. Once the project is complete, you will receive your product warrantee packet. We always like to take pictures of our projects to keep our photo gallery current, too.
10. The last step is where you show off your newly completed design project. We know that you will be happy with the completed product, and we appreciate it when you recommend us to others.
